Millarville has wide-open views of the mountains and foothills

Millarville is a quiet country community south of Calgary on highway 22. The famous Farmers’ Market is open each Saturday from mid-June to the end of September, from 8:30 a.m. to noon. The Millarville Christ Church is a century-old spruce log Anglican church in the rolling hills. The Millarville Race Track has been holding horse races since 1905 (though is in danger of being shut down).

Leighton Centre

This is the former home of the famous Alberta landscape painter A.C. Leighton, located on 80 acres of ranchland. The Centre hosts year-round art exhibits. Open Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and some weekends.

Rothney Astrophysical Observatory

The Rothney Astrophysical Observatory is an astronomical observatory located north of Priddis on Highway 22. The observatory is owned and operated by the University of Calgary, and was dedicated in 1972.
