This route is about 1328 km and can take 15hours
All vehicles can now travel on the Trans-Canada #1 from Vancouver to Hope. But routes north are limited to local travel (the #1 as far as Jackass Mountain, and the Coquihalla #5). The only route east from Hope is the Crowsnest Route #3 toward Osoyoos.
The section between Hope and Princeton was damaged by mudslide/rockslide during the flooding in November 2021. It was cleaned up and rebuilding is continuing at this time.
As of Dec 21, Highway 3 has opened up to general travel. Truckers should take the Coquihalla #5 to/from Kamloops
We have itineraries for the Crowsnest Route #3 from Hope to Osoyoos, from Osoyoos to Castlegar, from Castlegar to Cranbrook, from Cranbrook to Lethbridge, and from Lethbridge to Medicine Hat. You can see more overviews of the Crowsnest Route in British Columbia and the Crowsnest Route in Alberta
The route has one lane in each direction (and an occasional passing lanes), and moves at the speed of the slowest vehicle on the road. So please be patient. The route between Calgary and Castle Junction is twinned and is much faster. Seed limits are 9 km/hr in national parks, and 110 km/h on #1 from Canmore in to Calgary.
