Temporary border restrictions and measures to address COVID-19 Omicron variant of concern
In effect: Fully vaccinated travellers who have been in any country other than Canada and the United States in the 14 days prior to entry to Canada may be selected for arrival testing. They must quarantine in a suitable place until they receive a negative test result (typically 3 days or so). They may take public transportation (for example, connecting flights) to their place of quarantine.
The Government of Canada is increasing the number of fully vaccinated travellers being selected for testing to reach 100% of vaccinated travellers in the coming weeks.
Requirements for unvaccinated travellers remain unchanged.
For travellers who have been in the following countries within 14 days prior to arrival in Canada: Botswana, Egypt, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Zimbabwe:
To limit the further spread of coronavirus in Canada, travel restrictions are in place across all border crossings. Foreign nationals are not permitted entry into Canada. This includes international students and foreign workers.
Currently only Canadian nationals (those already with a right to be here) can enter or re-enter Canada.
