Early North West Mounted Police post
A living fort from the 1870s, when the North West Mounted Police brought Canadian law to the West. Hear the stories of the Cypress Hills Massacre and learn of its impact on the Nakoda people and on Canada in Southwest Saskatchewan. Fort Walsh is in Saskatchewan, an hour by road from Medicine Hat and 3.5 hours from major urban areas in Saskatchewan and Alberta. The Fort is 55km south on Highway 271 from the Trans-Canada Highway. Plan to spend at least a few hours at Fort Walsh.
