This community was founded by Capt. William Ross at the request of the Earl of Dalhousie in 1816, with 172 former soldiers of the Nova Scotia Fencibles, eager to settle the interior uplands.

This living history museum, captures the flavour of country life in early Nova Scotia by depicting the life of five generations of the Ross family who worked the farm for 150 years. Savor good food cooking over an open hearth or the fresh smell of wood shavings in the Cooper Shop. Walk alongside a team of oxen at work and touch cows, sheep, hens, pigs and more kittens than you can count. The period after the Ross Farm vintage. The museum has household antiques & equipment used to work in the home and outside. The museum has a period working craft shop during the summer months. It also has a wide collection of baskets. Operated by: Hildaniel Brown House Society. Open May 20-October 8 Tues-Sun10:00 am-4:30 pm. Admission free, donations welcome.
