Osterhaut Log Cabin

This is a mid-1800s log cabin at Guildwood Park, tucked in behind the famous Guild Inn sculpture park. The cabin is the Oldest building in Scarborough, originally built in 1795 by Augustus Jones who was commissioned by John Graves Simcoe to survey Scarborough. The current version was built about 1850.

The original 1914 section of the main building was once known as the Bickford Residence and has an interior staircase, with several pre-1950 additions to the Bickford residence constructed prior to 1950. The Studio Building, a frame structure located north of the main building, has a 1932 addition built in 1932 and a north wing added in the 1940s. It originally served as studios, shops, and accomodation for artists in weaving, batik, tooled leather, block-printing, pewter, copper, and woodworking. The park features a sculpture park with relocated building facades from downtown Toronto. This well known Toronto landmark is popular for wedding photography
