Sherwood Park is the residential and shopping center of Strathcona County, located on the eastern edge of Edmonton, alongside the Anthony Henday Trail (Ring Road) Sherood Park lies just south of the Yellowhead Highway #16, and just west of Elk Island National Park.
Sherwood Park has 70,000 residents (which has doubled since 199), and has about 2/3 of all the residents of Strathcona County. The community is leads western Canada in oil refining and is home to more than 1,500 businesses. Strathcona County covers over 480 square miles and has Alberta’s fourth largest population, after only Edmonton, Calgary, and Lethbridge.

This 97 square kilometre area offers 150 km of hiking, mountain biking, or cross country ski trails for day-use access. The park has many species of birds and wildlife to see.

Interpretive and outdoor programs provided at the Centre give a well-rounded out door experience. 16 kilometres of cross-country ski trails are well-groomed in the winter. The 41 bed Lodge may be booked on a group basis. Activities offered include canoeing, kayaking, hiking, cross-country skiing, picnicking and summer camps for children.
