Vernon Bridge is a small rural community located in eastern Prince Edward Island. The community takes its name from the Vernon River, which flows through the area.
The area was originally inhabited by the Mi’kmaq people before European settlement began in the late 1700s. In the early 1800s, the area was settled by Scottish immigrants who like the area for its fertile land for farming. The community grew to several churches, schools, and other community buildings.
Over the 1900s, paved roads connected Vernon Bridge to the rest of the island
