Saskatoon’s retail shopping hours are generally from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 or 6:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Many shopping malls and stores are open evenings until 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday. Some of the larger malls offer Sunday shopping from 12 – 5 p.m.
Downtown
The main shopping district in Saskatoon is right downtown. This area spans between Kinsmen Park (north of downtown) and Idylwyld Dr. N. This 25-plus block area has numerous retail stores, services, restaurants and other attractions. The downtown’s shopping is clustered along 21st Street and also along 2nd Avenue. Also downtown is Saskatoon’s largest 2-level shopping mall, Midtown Plaza, as well as Bayside Centre.
Broadway-Nutana
This area is on the east side of the river, just southeast of downtown. The area along Broadway is being revitalize as a business improvement district, and has some charming older buildings, and many independent stores and restaurants. The neighbourhood has plenty of parking.
8th Street East
This street celebrates its proximity to the southeastern suburbs as Saskatoon’s biggest shopping area, with a mile-long strip containing half a dozen malls and plazas. The largest is the Centre at Circle & 8th.
Riversdale
This community is just southwest of downtown, and has a number of charming buildings, stores and restaurants in a historically rich area. This district has over 170 businesses and is home to Saskatoon’s Chinatown area.
Valley Road
This area is 4 km south of Saskatoon, is a nice drive into the country, and has many roadside businesses offering crafts, eateries and fresh produce. You can buy fruits and vegetables ready-picked or pick your own. There’s also a nursery, a golf course and a canoe launch.
