The town’s name comes from the Cree word for mooseberry (actually, a high bush cranberry). It was also the name of an Indian chief who later settled on a reserve near Battleford.

This museum has a number of collections from the late 1800s to mid 1900s, including barbershop, blacksmith, church, dental, farm equipment, hospital, and military items. Open daily from 8 am to 9 pm, mid-may to mid-October. Free admission.
